Animal Kitchen
If you smell something fishy, you might be near our food preparation area! Every day, CMA staff and volunteers need to prepare well-balanced, nutritious diets for our four bottlenose dolphins, thirty-plus sea turtles, and four North American River Otters! That's over ninety pounds of food every day!
From start to finish, it takes about five hours to prepare all the food, clean the buckets, wash the floors, clean the sinks, scrub the countertops, sanitize the refrigerators, organize the walk-in freezer, etc, etc...Just in time to get ready for the next day! All of our fish is shipped to us from North America, stamped with a seal of quality good enough for you and I to eat! The assistance we receive from our volunteers in food prep is unmatched and absolutely crucial to meeting the nutritional needs of our animals.
