Dolphin Day Camp
Who says Summer Camp has to end? Come out and play all year in Dolphin Day Camp. Just like summer camp, this program offers children an educational and entertaining opportunity to learn about our animals in a fun classroom setting. CMA trainers will teach children about dolphin anatomy, behavior, nutrition and training through games, crafts and a brief poolside introduction to one of our resident dolphins.
Participants will receive a t-shirt and a dolphin information packet at the beginning of the program. This program is only offered Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and is limited to a minimum of 4 people, maximum of 10 participants per camp. This program is geared toward children between the ages of 8 and 11. Tuition is $49.
Junior Dolphin Day Camp
Just like the big kids, children ages 5 to 8 can come out and play at the junior version of Dolphin Day Camp. Similar to the “Big Kids” camp, this program offers children an educational and entertaining opportunity to learn about our animals in a fun classroom setting. CMA trainers teach children about dolphin anatomy, behavior, nutrition and training through games, crafts and a brief poolside introduction to one of our resident dolphins, in a way that the smaller ones will understand.
Participants will receive a t-shirt and a dolphin information packet at the beginning of the program. Dolphin Encounter
We want to warn you now; you may get a little wet!!! This thirty minute program offers participants the opportunity to work side by side with one of CMA's trainers during training and feeding sessions with one of our resident Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins. You will first depart on a fifteen minute Behind the Scenes Tour of the aquarium to see how we care for our animals, including food preparation and rehabilitation areas. Then, you will spend fifteen minutes poolside, with a trainer learning about the anatomy, intelligence and beauty of these amazing animals.
This unique program is offered daily from 12:00pm - 12:30pm by reservation only. Space is limited to two (2) guests per day and participants must be at least 7 years of age to enroll. Tuition is $75.
Dolphin Trainer Experience
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a dolphin trainer? Stop wondering and start training!! During this once in a lifetime experience, you will be given the opportunity to "shadow" our professional trainers through three hours of food preparation, animal enrichment, exhibit maintenance and record keeping. Participants will assist CMA trainers as they go poolside during two training and feeding sessions with our Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins and one training and feeding session with our North American River Otters.
This program is limited to 2 participants and is offered on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Reservations are required and participants must be at least 12 years of age, be able to climb stairs and lift 15 pounds. Tuition is $200.
Trainer for a Week
Are you looking for a truly intense Dolphin Training Experience that will give you an insider’s look into the world of training animals? This program is designed to do just that! It is the ULTIMATE Dolphin and otter experience. Learn how humans communicate with these marine mammals thru positive reinforcement and other reinforcement techniques. Explore how to enrich their environment while gaining insight on marine mammal care and conservation, including strandings and rescue, rehabilitation, and release efforts of CMA. Activities include dolphin trainings and interactions, river otter care and training, enrichment projects, lectures, food preparation, general animal care, and a boat tour of the intercoastal waterways around CMA. Included is a training manual, t-shirt, signature dolphin tail fluke jewelry, and basic lunch.
This program is offered any five consecutive days most weeks (call for availability) from 9am to 5pm. Participants must be 12 or older, be able to climb stairs and lift 15 pounds. Tuition is $950.
Paint with Winter
Are you the next Dali? Winter has been practicing and now you can practice with her! During this unique opportunity you can paint with Winter the dolphin! Painting is a creative outlet for both humans and dolphins and is just one form of enrichment activities our trainers do with our animals. Each participant will receive one 8x10 canvas that already includes a painted stroke by Winter. This will include a 4x6 photo on the back of Winter painting a picture; supplies (including paint and brushes) for you participants to paint and finish the pieces while sitting next; an explanation from a trainer about how painting fits in with our dolphin’s enrichment program; up close and personal viewing of Winter in a painting session. So bring your camera—this isn’t something you get to do every day!
This brand new hour-long program will be held every other Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Call for dates and availability. The cost $50 and is limited to 20 participants.
